Pump performance

Understanding pump energy per cubic metre of water

Learn what an energy-intensity comparison needs and why a simple calculator cannot guarantee lower pumping costs.

Pump energykWh/m³Water monitoring

How it works

What you can expect

An energy-intensity figure divides energy consumed by water delivered over the same period. In the WaterPesa example, 38.4 kWh divided by 48 m³ is 0.8 kWh/m³. This is illustrative data, not a benchmark for every pump or a measured result from your site.

Outcomes

Why this matters

01

Match the period

Compare energy and volume from the same observation window. Missing data or a zero denominator makes the comparison unsuitable.

02

Compare operating conditions

Flow, head and the service required matter when comparing periods. A smaller energy bill during a supply interruption is not necessarily an efficiency improvement.

03

Keep assumptions visible

A hypothetical percentage reduction and a user-entered energy price produce a scenario, not a savings guarantee or an instruction to operate a pump.

Capabilities

What the workflow includes

01

Record inputs

Capture meter identity, timestamps, units and quality for energy and water observations.

02

Inspect changes

Review maintenance and operating conditions alongside a trend.

03

Try a scenario

The demo calculator accepts a price and a hypothetical reduction from 0–30%.

04

Validate before control

A production schedule needs verified capabilities, operating constraints and local protection; no schedule is created by this calculator.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator apply an electricity tariff?

No. You supply an assumed rate in the selected currency. It is not a tariff quote.

Can this automatically optimize a pump?

No. The preview explains a calculation. Automated scheduling and live commands require separate engineering and commissioning.
